One Big Mess
[edit]This article is rife with mechanical errors and reeks of bias. Completely unprofessional. Usertubes60 (talk) 13:01, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

What does her being raped have to do with her divorcing her husband?
[edit]Thst's what it says in this article. No source, no context, no nothing. This is one of the WORST-written articles I've seen in Wikipedia, and it's a great example to show why teachers, scholars, professors, and other members of academia dismiss Wikipedia as being nothing more than a joke.
The grammar in this is awful. It needs much more citations. What DOESN'T this article need? It should just be started all over again. It's a disaster.
Gay Icon Project
[edit]In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 20:38, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- To the person who deleted the Gay Icon category from the main page: here are several sites that classify her strong gay ties.

Firstly, Artemisboy, a person should not enter information on an encyclopedia of any kind without having a creditable verified source. It is not in standing with the stringent requirements of Wikipedia to undertake such a bold move without citing and entering the creditable source at the foot of the article. Heresay, based on the links you have supplied is not sufficiant evidence for the inference being made re Connie Francis.
Further, although I don't have the reference with me at present, Connie has very recently been quoted as saying that "the biggest mistake of my life was not marrying Bobby (Darin)", referring to an incident of her pre-fame days wherein Darin was literally driven out of her life at her father's gunpoint.(Denidowi (talk) 12:54, 4 June 2009 (UTC))
Sexually assaulted?
[edit]It says, "In 1974 she was sexually assaulted in a hotel following a performance in Westbury, New York." Um, she was raped. Are we whitewashing here? 68.219.72.147 17:41, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Somewhat. Ravenswing 19:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
The date of her rape is incorrect. It was not in 1974, a few years later. Check with Newsday. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.223.210 (talk) 00:45, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Article needs references
[edit]Per WP:BLP this article contains many statements that need to be referenced, such as references to her brother being murdered, bipolar disorder, etc. 23skidoo 18:41, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Skidoo. This same advice might also appy to the 'icon'/inference being liberally applied to this article that Connie Francis might be 'Gay'. Even further, on this point, evidence appears to exist to the contrary, in fact. If there is any question as to the validity of any claim whatsoever, it should not even be considered for entry, certainly not become a part of an encyclopedic work(Denidowi (talk) 13:12, 4 June 2009 (UTC))
Fan Left Her Money in her Will.
[edit]Hi This is my first discussion post! I saw this on news of the weird (http://www.newsoftheweird.com/archive/index.html) or possibly here http://www.newsoftheweird.com/archive/nw070916.html
The Continuing Crisis Just before Patricia Nilsen committed suicide last year, she cashed out her estate and left the money (about $300,000 in CDs) to famous 1960s singer Connie Francis, a move that was, said Nilsen's relatives, an abrupt departure from her previous plans. The relatives accuse Francis of manipulating Nilsen, but Francis said she hardly ever spoke to or wrote her. Francis described Nilsen as a huge fan who wrote to her frequently, perhaps giving Nilsen, said a relative, "the insane delusion" that Francis was her best friend (though there was no formal evidence of mental illness). Francis offered to split the proceeds with the family and to donate to Nilsen's favorite charity, but the family said no, and Francis recently filed a lawsuit in Palm Beach, Fla., to prevent the family from holding up her money. [New York Daily News, 8-16-07] I guess I will try to post this in the article once I can track down the appropriate documentation. Any help or advice is greatly approciated!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dmacg99 (talk • contribs) 18:32, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Why not simply leave the gossip and 'dirt' out of an article in the first place?? Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a magazine, newspaper or soapie.(Denidowi (talk) 13:25, 4 June 2009 (UTC))

Stupid Cupid
[edit]Hello I'm french. My grandaughter is very fond of Stupid Cupid. I can't remember when did Connie Francis sang that song. Can you find the year? Thanks a lot. Yours friendly. Mamie Bibi--82.123.250.98 (talk) 15:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
If you look near the end of the article itself, it lists her hit singles in tabular form including their year of release. The year given for "Stupid Cupid" is 1957. Good Luck.(Denidowi (talk) 13:16, 4 June 2009 (UTC))
It was 1958. Who's Sorry Now was her first solo hit single. It was recorded in 1957 but was not a hit till early 1958. Stupid Cupid was a hit later in the same year.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.45.226.64 (talk) 20:32, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
GOCE comments
[edit]removed a lot of unsourced or potentially problematic material. Tried to fix a variety of issues, but this article is chaotic and still needs citations that are clear. Auntieruth55 (talk) 23:19, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
New structure
[edit]Gave the article a new structure in hope to clear up the previous chaos a bit. But there are still some citations missing, and several of the old citations lead to dead links. Libby Caruso (talk) 06:28, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
1989 comeback
[edit]In a 1989 Entertainment Tonite interview, she discusses her comeback: her long term addiction to amphetamines (prescribed in her heyday), manic depression, hating her father for having her committed to a mental hospital, her recovery from the pills, stabilization of her MI with Lithium, reunification with her father. she said "i was a car out of control, and the only person who didnt know it was me". her father said "if elvis had had a father like me, he would be alive today". Id love to put this in the article, but i know a youtube link is not at all kosher. with some research, we can add the info.(mercurywoodrose)75.61.137.132 (talk) 07:38, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
Image
[edit]An MGM Records promo shot can't be used here, so I found a more recent free image of Ms Francis that is more appropriate. FotoPhest (talk) 21:45, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- This is NOT a picture of Connie Francis!!! It is a picture of Connie Stevens!!! 75.107.64.56 (talk) 22:05, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
I don't know whose image it is, but, FotoPhest, there are copyright problems with the image you uploaded, so I went back to the one before, which does not have a problem.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:11, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's from this image at Flickr [1], the uploader there originally identified it as Francis but agreed in the comments beneath it that it's actually Stevens. It's also clearly the same person as in File:Connie Stevens, 2006.jpg. January (talk) 22:53, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
Proposed new lead-section
[edit]My proposed new lead-section was based directly on the main article, with no new material added. Unless the article itself is in breach of the guidelines, I don't see how this intro could be at fault. 109.154.17.244 (talk) 22:36, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
America Pie Connection
[edit]In the cultural references section, ,should we mention the speculation that Connie Francis is The Queen mentioned in Don McLean's song, or is it not relevant enough??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Excelsus (talk • contribs) 05:14, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
Connie Stevens hat
[edit]There also needs to be a "not to be confused with Connie Stevens" line at the beginning, just as there is for Connie Stevens not to be confused with Connie Francis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.86.241.48 (talk) 18:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- There doesn't need to be a hatlink in either this article or in the Stevens article. You were the person who put the hat in the Stevens article, and I've removed it. You'll have to get a consensus that such a hat link is needed just because two singers have the same first name. Don't reinsert without that consensus.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:16, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
Many have mistaken one for the other. The 2 Connies were born in the same year; both are natives of the New York/New Jersey area; both are of Italian descent; both had hits on the pop charts at the same time; both have similar singing styles; and both have "Americanized" their names. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.86.240.50 (talk) 21:43, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Follow up. A few years ago, in the Talk section for Connie Stevens, the question was asked "Why is there no mention of Everybody's Somebody's Fool". I responded that the person had the wrong Connie, but was not alone in mistaking one for the other, for I made the same mistake. For that reason, I added hats to the articles for both Connies, and at one time, even added a section in the article for each Connie stating that they were often confused for each other, having not only the same first name, but being born in the same year in the NY Metro area, being Italian-Americans, and changing their birth names to "Anglicized" names for their performing careers (as was a common practice in earlier years). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.86.240.74 (talk) 12:17, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Personal Life needs more substance
[edit]Connie is now well into her 70's. She did not only lead a teenage life: Bobby Darin is not the sum total of her lovelife. Sure, the last thing we want is a soapie or just some magazine treatment: Wikipedia IS an encyclopaedia, But the lady does deserve her marriages and subsequent efforts regarding them recognized. Mention of them did exist at one stage ... someone has removed that info ... all we know now, in mid-2013 is that Bobby Darin was involved when the lady was just a spring chicken. Without trash and cheap treatment, post something on her personal life. Does she have children, etc?? These are things we'd love to know121.214.223.186 (talk) 01:21, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
What?
[edit]This article states: "Called the 'First Lady of Rock & Roll' in one headline of a marginal publication..." This seems to be a very curious bit of editorializing - if the publication in question is indeed so "marginal," why is this claim even mentioned and in the lead paragraph to boot? Even stranger is the qualification that this claim appears in just "one headline" in this "marginal" publication - sure doesn't sound like this is a valid claim if it only appears in one publication of such low esteem. Also to see this sort of backhanded comment coupled to the statement that the singer has sold 100 million records also seems curious - guess standard wiki policy is to give with one hand and take away with the other. Odd indeed... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:801:380:63E0:0:0:0:E5ED (talk) 12:56, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
At another point, this article states: "In 1977, Francis underwent nasal surgery and completely lost her voice. She went through three more operations to regain her singing voice and was unable to sing for four years....In 1978, Francis returned to the recording studio to cut an album titled Who's Happy Now?" Hmm, was the 1978 album instrumental only? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:801:380:63E0:0:0:0:E5ED (talk) 13:06, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

1957-1959 last chance and breakthrough
[edit]How could Connie Francis write in her diary in 1958 that her breakthrough was like winning the Super Bowl when it didn't exist at that time? 136.34.115.139 (talk) 04:18, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
